About the role:  Cherry Pips Nursery, part of Cherry Orchard Primary Academy, have a truly fantastic opportunity for an experienced Nursery Manager to join us and be part of our brand new Academy opening in September 2017.  This is a rare chance to join a school from the very beginning of its journey and play a pivotal role in its success and development.  Our nursery staff at Cherry Orchard Primary Academy will provide outstanding education opportunities for children aged from 3 years.  We are looking for an excellent practitioner who will be expected to provide high quality, flexible childcare for families. The Nursery Manager will oversee the operation of the nursery to the highest standards, ensuring that the best possible environment and care are provided for children from 3 years old.

The working basis of this role is quite flexible and can be determined based on our successful candidate's availability and any preference that they may have.  The timings will be between 35-37 hours per week in total and we can offer either a full-year working basis or Term Time + 3 weeks.  This can be openly discussed at interview and as we are also seeking to appoint a Deputy Nursery Manager, we can discuss what would suit the candidates and the Nursery best.  Please note that the salary will be subject to change based on the hours and weeks agreed, and we will consider our successful candidate's experience when making an offer.

We are looking for someone who:

  • A minimum of NVQ Level 3 in Childcare or, ideally, a Degree in Early Years
  • Previous, recent experience managing a similar setting.
  • Being independent and able to work under pressure
  • Excellent communicator at all levels
  • Ability to organise own work ad that of others, identify priorities and meet outcomes
  • Lead by example, demonstrating high levels of drive, enthusiasm and passion with proven ability to motivate others.
  • Excellent written communication with ability to produce and evaluate reports.
  • Up to date knowledge of EYFS framework and other relevant regulations
  • Knowledge of safeguarding children (post holder will act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead for the nursery)
  • Proven success in managing provision and innovative teaching across the Early Years Foundation Stage

Working for the academy: Cherry Orchard Primary Academy is a highly successful two-form entry primary academy for students between the ages of 3 to 11 that opened in September 2017. The academy admits a maximum of 60 children into each year between Reception and Year 6 having initially opened with places available in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. We have continued to expand and from September 2021 we have children up to year 6 and with every year group at full capacity.

The academy enjoys modern facilities, a nursery for pre-school age children, and a small centre for children with speech, communication and language needs.
