Advert

We are excited to announce that we are looking to recruit a talented and dynamic Deputy Headteacher to start in September 2017.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who embraces challenge and constantly strives to improve performance through inspiring and leading others and who can contribute to growth and development in our successful school. St John’s is a Single Academy Trust with Voluntary Aided status. We welcome candidates who value our Christian ethos while contributing individual flair to our evolving school.

St John's has an excellent reputation amongst our local community and we work in collaboration with a number of other primary schools and a secondary school to share best practice for the benefit of staff and to enrich the lives of the children. Together with the Governing Body and Headteacher you will have the opportunity to develop our Academy. We will ensure that you are well supported and nurtured in your role as our Deputy Headteacher.

If you want the chance to inspire and develop our proud, enthusiastic and motivated children alongside our hardworking and passionate team, who are dedicated to the excellence of our school and the educational experience of our pupils, then why not come and visit us? Visits are warmly welcomed.

Please contact Mr Smith Deputy Head (Headteacher from September 2017) to arrange a visit.

We offer you:

  • delightful, responsive children, who are eager to learn
  • a fantastic learning environment set within beautiful grounds
  • very supportive colleagues, parents and Governing Body
  • many opportunities for professional development
  • strong links with other schools in our Maidstone schools consortium

The Deputy Head position is full time starting September 2017. Remuneration is within the Leadership scale, L4-L8. There is no formal classroom responsibility with this post beyond PPA cover.

In order to apply for this post you will need to download the Job Description and Person Specification and study them carefully.

These documents will be used by the selection panel to shortlist your application so please think carefully about the criteria for this role and demonstrate in your Reason for Application how you meet this.

Our School and all its personnel are committed to Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children. This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Information about the school

St. John’s School is a very successful ‘stand-alone’ two form entry Church of England Primary Academy. We have an excellent reputation in our community as a school where our pupils enjoy a nurturing, respectful, fun and friendly place to learn. We take pride in our high achievements and as a school we are passionate about the environment; this has been recognised by Eco Schools through being awarded the prestigious Green Flag.

We opened in September 1987 and serve primarily the Grove Green and Bearsted Park areas. Our most recent full Ofsted inspection (July 2015) rated us Outstanding in all areas; in 2019 we were also rated highly in our Church Schools inspection as well as by Ofsted in their inspection of our History curriculum.

St. Johns is well resourced and set in extensive grounds where pupils can enjoy plenty of outdoors space to play and learn. We are supported by a strong governing body and have an active ‘Friends’ parents association, who bring our school together to host events throughout the year.
