TEACHER OF DRAMA (Maternity Cover)(Full time post, part –time will be considered)

Required for September 2017

We are seeking a dynamic, innovative and inspiration teacher of drama to cover maternity leave at our highly successful, selective school.

You must be passionate about your subject and have the drive to maintain our superb academic results in addition to developing a thriving extra-curriculum programme. This role is suitable for an experienced teacher or NQT’s.

This is reflected in our approach to teaching and learning and as a teacher of Drama the successful candidate will be central to continuing to instil this ethos in our students.

Our curriculum:

At KS3 we offer our students a wide range of creative and challenging schemes of work.

In year 7 students learn the basic drama skills thorough the study of poetry, storytelling and scripted text. In year 8 they focus on developing these skills through devising and characterisation work.

If Students wish to study the discipline further they are able to choose Drama GCSE at the end of year 9. This is a two-year course following the AQA specification.

We also offer A’ Level Drama and Theatre Studies to our 6th form students which includes the study of two set texts, a written exam paper, a devising project and scripted performance.  Our practical drama grades are well above average.

Outside of the curriculum drama is thriving. We currently offer students LAMDA lessons and the opportunity to take park in at least one major production.  There is also a drama club offered at lunchtime as well as numerous student productions throughout the year, which are directed by our 6th form students.

Simon Langton Girls’ Grammar School is a highly respected selective Voluntary Controlled Girls’ Grammar School that places students’ academic success on a par with their wellbeing, creating a unique learning community where every individual matters. Students attending the school are aged between 11-18 years and the school has a student roll of about 1,300 students (with approx. 400 pupils in our mixed Sixth Form).
