Student Support Assistant Post

Starting Date: With immediate effect

Hours: Part and full time hours (over 5 days), term time only.

We are seeking to appoint several Student Support Assistants with immediate effect. You will need to be positive, responsible and flexible and want to join a creative, happy and close-knit team at Wye School. As an establishing school, we have a small staff and it is essential that anyone appointed is flexible and enjoys working in a team environment. Here you will have the opportunity to develop your own specialism rather than just providing general classroom support.

You will be required to fulfil a range of supportive duties. These will include acting as a key worker for named students and also providing wider support within the school. We are particularly keen to hear from anyone with expertise or understanding of specific learning needs, such as numeracy or literacy support, autism, ADHD or mental health issues.

However, what you can do is always more important to us than what you have done, so applications are welcome from anyone with a passion for learning and a genuine commitment to bringing out the best in everyone.

Wye School is a free school with a comprehensive intake, across the whole ability range. It opened in September 2013 and we have 4 year groups. We are three form entry, with a PAN of 90, and are over-subscribed for all year groups.

Salary: Term-time only, pro-rata to full-time equivalent salary of £16,000 per annum.  Exact hours can be agreed with the people appointed to these posts.

Deadline for Applications: Friday 10th March 2017 at 12.00 midday.

Information about the school

Wye School has a vision of excellence, a vision shared by all staff and students. Rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted in 2018, the school is dedicated to ensuring each student gains the knowledge, confidence and skills to make a success of their future lives. The school caters for Years 7 -13 with a roll of 600, housed in a new building situated in the beautiful Kent Downs countryside, offering an outstanding environment for staff and students. The first GCSE results in 2018 were above average for Progress 8 and above national average Attainment 8, and followed by an equally strong second set of results in 2019. Students are well behaved and hard working and our staff form a friendly and committed team. As the smallest local secondary school, great pride is taken in strong relationships internally and with parents and the community.

Located within close proximity of Wye village centre, the school is at the very heart of the local community and has the potential to grow into a truly exceptional school. Wye is perfectly located to enjoy the Kent countryside, whilst still being within an hour of London thanks to HS1.
