We are looking to recruit a Clerk to our Board of Trustees, providing advice on governance, constitutional and procedural matters.

We are flexible in how we employ the Clark to Trustees and are prepared to consider different contracts / working hours.

The position can be;

  • term time only - 15 hours per week - 10.30 - 1.30 Mon - Fri - with the exception of Trustees meetings which generally run from 4.00 pm - 7.00 pm twice a term.  You would be part of the Academy administration team, Clerk to Trustees work would take priority and would be conducted within contracted hours. 
  • Alternativly we would consider a zero hours contract where you would be paid on claim for Clerking hours or we could also consider a freelance clerk.

Duties will include;

  1. To provide advice to the Board of Trustees on matters of governance, legislation and procedural matters
  2. To provide effective administration of meetings, preparing a focussed agenda and ensuring papers and documentation for the meetings are prepared and distributed in a timely fashion
  3. Record the attendance of Trustees at the meetings and draft minutes of the Trustee meetings, circulate the minutes and follow up on agreed actions
  4. Maintain a register of Trustee pecuniary interest and ensure the Trusteee business interests is reviewed regularly. 
  5. Manage information including up to date records of names, addresses of trustees, maintaining copies of signed minutes of meetings, records of trustee correspondence
  6. To work flexibly as part of the Academy Adminstration team (if appropriate)
  7. To work in a way that protects and respects confidentiality of students and Academy business

You will have;

  • Previous expereince of working as a Clerk to Trustees / Governors
  • Excellent ICT skills
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload to achieve deadlines
  • Good communication skills (written, verbal, face to face, telephone)
  • Highly literate and numerate with excellent interpersonal skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Experience of dealing with confidential work
