KS3 Student Welfare Officer required for April 2017

KR4 FTE £16,800 - £17,650 (Pro rata 39 weeks)

We are looking to appoint a student welfare officer to work within the key stage three team to provide excellent pastoral support to our students. The role can be hugely rewarding and would suit someone who enjoys working with children and has excellent communication skills.

This is an exciting time to join DGSB. Last summer, we achieved our best GCSE results ever and the most recent OFSTED report confirmed that we are a very good school and are firmly on our way to outstanding. This year, we will also be embarking on the first stage of a major re-development project as part of the Priority Schools Building Programme. This will enable us to design a brand new learning environment with facilities that provide an exceptional education for our students.

If you are passionate about working with young people, relish a challenge and feel you have the necessary skills for this post and would like more information then please contact Sophie Tourki, Headteacher’s PA on 01304-216810, or alternatively email stourki@dovergramboys.kent.sch.uk

Applications should include a completed application form and supporting letter.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our students and expect all staff to share in this commitment. The successful candidate will be required to undergo appropriate child protection screening including an enhanced DBS check.

Dover Grammar School for Boys is an Equal Opportunities Employer.

The closing date for applications is:

Wednesday 1 March 2017 (by 12 noon please)

Information about the school

Dover Grammar School for Boys is a selective school with a school roll of 800 students. Approximately 200 of these are in the Sixth Form. Girls are admitted to the Sixth Form.

DGSB is on a very exciting journey. Having retained our "Good " OFSTED designation, without condition, in October 2019, we are working hard on every aspect of what we do as we want to become even better. We moved into a £26m new school building in July 2022 and our new accommodation provides us with modern, bright, spacious teaching rooms, and has increased opportunities for students both inside and outside of the taught curriculum.

However, our success both in school – we recorded a fantastic Progress 8 score in 2023 of +0.57 - and within the local community means that we are already looking to expand our site and develop opportunities further.

DGSB is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our students and expect all staff to share in this commitment. Successful candidates will be required to undergo appropriate child protection screening including an enhanced DBS check. An ‘online presence’ check may be carried out before any appointment is confirmed. All appointments are subject to the receipt of satisfactory references.

Non-contributory access to the Benenden Healthcare Scheme is offered to successful candidates.
