We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified, ambitious and enthusiastic Subject Lead for Design Technology. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate exceptional teaching and organisational skills and must be able to teach Food or Product Design to GCSE or equivalent. Post 16 experience or knowledge of Key Stage 3 Electronics would also be desirable.

DT is a well-established and highly successful subject at DSTC.  We have a range of specialist teaching areas including Food, Textiles and CAD CAM rooms as well as a wood workshop and Computer Suite.  The department consists of four specialist DT teachers and a full time technician.

In Key Stage 3 our students rotate through a range of disciplines including Food, Product Design and Textiles.  In Key Stage 4 many students opt to continue their studies in one of the following courses:

  • 601/7703/2 WJEC Level 1/2 Award in Hospitality and Catering.
  • AQA Design Technology (where they will work in a range of materials including wood, plastic, papers/boards or textiles).

Our current Year 10 cohort will complete their studies following the AQA Product Design course.

Over the coming years we would like to build a Post 16 Design Technology offer and we hope that the successful candidate will lead this initiative.
