From March 2017 we are looking for a Senior Family Liaison Officer to join our staff team. You would be working along side / supporting another Family Liaison Officer to provide vital support / empowerment to our families and forming part of the school's Inclusion Team. This post is a permanent position and is term time only for 37.5 hours per week working from 8.00am to 4.00pm daily 3.30pm on Fridays).

At Castle Hill Family Liaison Officers are held in high regard by our families and staff. They provide active support for our families both inside and out of school. They use a wide range of skills and contacts to increase engagement with the school and improve the learning outcomes for allpupils.

Experience of working with children and families would be essential. You would also be expected to have experience of multi agency working; in particular a good knowledge of social services procedures.

Other duties would include:

  • organising a wide variety of activities for children and their families
  • liaising with staff members regarding children and their families where necessary
  • encouraging good home / school communication
  • supporting parents to attend meetings and appointments
  • child protection
  • attend relevant training and development as identified by the school and through appraisal
  • guide and support Family Liaison Officer colleague
  • home visits
  • initiatives to engage parents
  • refering parents to local support services
  • supporting staff when necessary

Ability to be confidential is essential and to be able to provide an empathetic approach. Counselling skills would also be an advantage

Castle Hill is a lively two form entry Community Primary School with a Specialist Resource Provision for Hearing Impaired children. We also have responsibility for running a large and thriving Nursery which shares its premises with the Children Centre on our grounds. The school is situated in an urban area of East Folkestone, on a deceptively large site.
