Advert

Can you manage a busy office, be a welcoming 'first face' for parents and visitors?

St Peter-in-Thanet Church of England Junior School is a caring and successful school, nestled in the heart of St Peter's village situated between the picturesque seaside town of Broadstairs and the artistically rejuvenated Margate.

After 21 years of making the post her own, our Office Manager is retiring and we are on the search for the right person to replace her.  A range of skills will be required - you must be calm, positive, welcoming, firm, patient and incisive.  You must be able to see the bigger picture and have an eye for detail.

You will be the public face of the school for parents and visitors, be able to manage the school's administrative software, to put a plaster on a child's grazed knee, help a worried parent, arrange a school trip, send out a letter, book a supply teacher - often all at the same time.

In short, you will be an important part of the team that ensures the school continues to operate smoothly!  You will probably have a background in school or education office management - but could just as well have transferable skills from the charity or business sectors.  The high Kent Range salary (KR 7/8  £21,297 - £27,769 FTE) reflects the importance of the role.

The post is permanent, full-time, 39 weeks per year, Monday to Friday and office hours are 8am to 4:45pm.

The ideal candidate will have Level 4NVQ/degree/diploma qualifications.  However, evidence of applicant's relevant experience will be taken in to consideration.

For more information please contact the present Office Manager, Caroline da Costa, on 01843 861430.  Informal tours of the school are welcome.

Information about the school

Our Ofsted inspection in May 2023 judged St Peters to be an outstanding school in all areas and for the last four years we have been amongst the highest achieving schools in the local area. We pride ourselves on our strengths in art, music, sport and drama where our specialist teachers and performance spaces enable children to really excel.

Although the school was established in 1694 our present building is much newer, having been opened by the Archbishop of Canterbury in 1998. We have good links with our local secondary schools. The majority of our children join us in Year 3 from Callis Grange Infants with whom we have a linked admissions policy but also have children from other schools joining us.

We have a warm and caring environment where all children, parents and staff work together as part of a positive learning culture, which enables our children to grow and learn in an atmosphere of true care and respect and develop into young people of whom we can be genuinely proud. This is through the combination of high quality teaching and pastoral care, rooted in our strong Christian values. These values and traditions help children to gain an understanding of society today and help us to prepare them well for life in modern Britain.

Our ‘all round’ curriculum means St Peter’s children flourish academically, artistically, musically, dramatically and on the sports field. We work hard to help each and every child to fulfil their potential as we believe that there is success in every child.

St. Peter's Junior School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Child Protection Policy, available on our website.
