We are seeking to appoint a hard working and friendly Teaching Assistant to support two pupils with Special Educational Needs in Key Stage 1. You will have experience of working with pupils with SEN and be willing and able to support us in providing high quality inclusive provision. You will be skilled in delivering a range of interventions and in working alongside the Speech and Language Therapy Service. This would be initially for 2 days a week. We are looking for a kind and caring person who is able to work well as a team member whilst using their initiative and working independently.

We can offer you a school with a great ethos and family feel, a fantastic environment in which to work (we are situated in the beautiful Elham Valley), a wonderfully friendly, professional group of colleagues who always go the extra mile for their pupils, regular CPD opportunities and good resources. You will be working with a group of very supportive colleagues who work brilliantly together as a team and are passionate and enthusiastic, despite the pressures of the job - chocolate and biscuits often help!  The school offers a wide range of extracurricular activities and was graded as 'Good' in our inspection last term.

This is a term time temporary contract for one year oin the first instance, linked to individual support of a specific pupil.  Visits to the school are welcome and encouraged. If you wish to visit please make an appointment through the school office.

Information about the school

We are a one-form entry, rural school, yet only a ten-minute drive from Canterbury. Our Church of England school is situated in beautiful landscaped grounds within the Elham Valley and it has its own large playing field and garden areas. The original school was built in Victorian times and is now a listed building.

Our school is extremely well resourced with a large hall and classrooms, an IT suite and Art room. We are proud to have our own swimming pool which is in regular use and means our children benefit from exciting sport events such as aquathlons.

Barham is oversubscribed and both parents and governors support the school extremely well. We have a love for the arts as well as sport and our pupils are offered an exciting, engaging curriculum.

Our active, dynamic school offers its pupils a wide range of extra-curricular activities. We have an experienced, supportive and very friendly team which is completely committed to giving each child the best primary education possible. We are always looking for new ways to inspire our children and both staff and pupils genuinely love being here.

Our last Ofsted Inspection was in January 2023. We were judged to be ‘good’ with outstanding in three categories. More information about our school can be viewed on our website www.barham.kent.sch.uk

Visits to the school are warmly welcomed. Please call the school office on 01227 831312 or email office@barham.kent.sch.uk to arrange a tour.

This school and all its personnel are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young persons. The post is subject to a DBS check and satisfactory references.
