ICT /Computing Teacher Needed at our North Site in Hextable.

We are looking for an excellent teacher who will facilitate outstanding learning, progress and attainment in Computing and ICT at our school in Hextable.

Embed the use of data and assessment within daily teaching so that work is set at the right level to consistently challenge every student, promptly flagging up any issues of concern relating to student progress.

Maximise opportunities for students to identify their own learning needs and to set and evaluate their own ongoing targets for improvement, to develop high quality independent learners.

Ensure the marking of students’ work provides them with sufficient guidance on how to improve their work.

Use the full range of core Communication and Interaction support strategies endorsed by the school to remove barriers to learning.

Effectively direct teaching assistants and other staff supporting Computing and ICT so that they know exactly how to challenge and support all students they work with, including the most able.

Assess work within agreed time spans; keep records and report progress against set targets and submit information to key stakeholders, and school assessment systems.

Motivate, support and learn from colleagues to mutually enhance teaching repertoires, and develop innovative practice and to deliver units of work in a collaborative way.

Information about the school

Broomhill Bank is a co-educational Foundation Special School for students with Communication and Interaction needs who all have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).

Our education provision is rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted and our residential provision is rated ‘Outstanding’. We work to prepare our students for life, through academic achievement, therapeutic provision to ensure their wellbeing and by being part of the wider community.

There are two sites. Broomhill Bank West is in Rusthall near Tunbridge Wells. Broomhill Bank North is in Hextable near Swanley. Our North site has bespoke residential provision and semi-independent living accommodation.

Students are taught in small classes of 8-10 according to level of need, with lessons led by subject specialist teachers. We facilitate students to learn as independently as possible. Across Key Stage 4 and 5 students can undertake a variety of accredited qualifications including GCSE, Entry Level and Functional Skills. Our Sixth Form focuses students on preparation for life so that alongside academic achievement they can develop the life and work-related skills which will be vital to their future independence and self-sufficiency.
