Oakley School is the district co-educational, Special School for day pupils, aged from 4 to 18 years, all of whom have severe and/or complex needs, with associated communication and learning difficulties. 

As part of our continued expansion and development we are seeking a dynamic, flexible and responsive Learning Support Cover Assistant (our equivalent of a Higher Level Teaching Assistant) to join our friendly, positive and forward looking team.   The postholder will primarily be based at our Tonbridge site, but must also be prepared to travel to, and work at, our Tunbridge Wells sites. 

The role will involve providing teaching cover for short term teacher absence throughout the site (Reception to KS2) as well as working closely with the teaching staff to support our pupils in all aspects of their learning, social development, personal needs and developing their skills for life and independence. 

We are looking for someone with relevant experience and expertise and a degree or relevant NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent, who can demonstrate good teaching and learning experience and skills, to cover the teaching in a range of lessons and subjects.  Experience of working in a Special Needs environment would be an advantage, but is not essential as full induction and training will be given. 

The hours are 35 per week, working Monday to Friday, term time only. The salary is within Kent Range Band 5 (£17,651 to £19,414) and reduced pro-rata for the hours/weeks actually worked, plus £1,229 per annum SEN allowance.
