SCHOOL GOVERNORS

Required ASAP

Voluntary Positions

We are looking to appoint new Governors to our Governing Body to provide strategic support in various areas of the management and improvement of the school.

Together with the Headteacher, the governing body has overall responsibility for the running of the school. Governors are involved in deciding school policies, allocating the school’s budget and appointing senior staff.

No special qualifications are needed and the most important thing is to have a keen interest in the school and be prepared to play an active part in the governing body’s work. In order to support governors in their work, the County Council provides full training for all governors at no charge to the individual.

The full governing body normally meets three times a year and, in addition, there are three Committee meetings per year (depending on which Committees you agree to sit on). In addition, we also require governors to participate in at least one governor visit to the school each year as part of a small group of governors.

We would particularly welcome applicants with good knowledge of the local community and/or Premises/Facilities Management, Finance, Human Resources or Business and Enterprise experience as these are skills we are currently trying to strengthen on the Governing Body.

The School is one of the best performing High Schools in Kent and received a very positive Ofsted Report in 2014 and was rated ‘good’ in every category with some outstanding features.  Thamesview is a new school build that benefits from innovative learning environments and state of the art ICT equipment.

Further details and information on how to apply can be obtained from Sheila Thompson, Head Teacher’s PA on 01474 566552 ext 1250 or email s.thompson2@thamesview.kent.sch.uk
