We are looking to appoint a highly motivated Teaching Assistant to join our talented and supportive team. You should be a positive and enthusiastic person who loves working with children and helping them to strive for their best. 

The post will be for at least 16 hours per week which may be worked over 4 or 5 days a week, term time only.  Actual hours will depend on a candidate’s experience. Pay: Kent Range 3. £15,102 - £16,799 pro rata. To start in January 2017. 

Whilst experience is not necessary you must have a minimum 'C' grade in English and Maths. Your numeracy and literacy will be of a high enough standard to improve standards. You will be able to communicate effectively with children and adults, have a flexible attitude, good sense of humour and be friendly and approachable. Good time management and the ability to work on your own initiative are essential.  All applications will be considered and all relevant training will be given to the right candidate. 

Responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting groups of children in achieving the lesson objective in Literacy, Maths and across all areas of the curriculum.
  • Leading groups of children or 1:1 intervention programmes.
  • Feeding back to the class teacher, sometimes keeping records of progress and behaviour.
  • Working with the Year Group to support any social, emotional, behavioural, personal care or medical needs.
  • Preparing resources and some administrative work.
  • Displaying children's work creatively.

Above all you need to like children, to want the very best for them and be prepared to put their needs first. Children will be at the heart of your work. You must be able to demonstrate that you understand the importance of educating the whole child.

Lady Joanna is a two-form entry endowed primary school, in the centre of the idyllic village of Wye. It is set in amazing grounds and the outside area is being further developed into a really special and exciting space for the children.
