Thanet Specialist Teaching Service - Temporary Teaching Post to cover Maternity Leave (0.6 FTE)

We are seeking to appoint a Specialist Teacher to cover a period of maternity leave. The successful candidate will join an enthusiastic and hard working team working with children and young people with SEND in mainstream schools and settings in Thanet.

We require a teacher with a specialism in the following areas:

  • Communication and Interaction (recent knowledge and experience of a range of speech, language and communication needs and/or Autism Spectrum disorders)
  • Cognition and Learning and or recent knowledge and experience of a range of learning difficulties

The successful candidate(s) should be able to demonstrate evidence of recent continuous professional development and how this may be applied within the specialist area/s of work.

The successful applicant will have strong interpersonal and communication skills and be able to demonstrate successful sustained experience of working collaboratively with teaching and non-teaching staff, parents/carers and other professionals through integrated working. The successful applicant must be able to work as part of a team as well as be able to work in isolation.

You will be based at Laleham Gap School and must be able to travel across the whole Thanet District and on occasions to other parts of Kent to meet requirements of the role.

Laleham Gap is a Communication and Interaction Special School. We have pupils aged from 4 to 18 years of age. Most of our pupils have a diagnosis of Autism. All pupils have an EHCP. Most pupils will achieve some GCSEs or equivalent at age 16. Laleham Gap is a new, high quality and well-resourced environment and the opportunity to work with an established, experienced and highly motivated team.
