Drapers Mills Primary Academy has a vacancy for a Teaching Assistant to support a child with a diagnosis of an autism spectrum condition in Upper Key Stage 2.  The successful applicant must have a sound understanding of autism and a range of proven effective de-escalation strategies and techniques.

The position includes supporting the individual in class and delivering interventions outside of the classroom.  The successful applicant will work with professionals from other agencies and other school staff to ensure that the most effective provision is in place for the child.

Sound literacy and maths skills, consistent record keeping and a calm manner are all essential. A knowledge of interventions such as sensory circuits, TRUGs, AcceleRead, AcceleWrite, sensory room provision and Lego therapy would be desirable but not essential - as training will be given.

The position will be for mornings only from 8.30am until 1.30pm each day, which includes an hour of lunch duty. It will be on a temporary contract until the end of July 2017.
