          Senior Caretaker required for October start

               37 hours per week/ 52 weeks per year

We are seeking to appoint a Senior Caretaker to work alongside the School Business Manager in ensuring the school premises are maintained to a high standard and meet all current health and safety requirements.

The Senior Caretaker will be expected to:

  • Undertake general repairs and maintenance around the premises, both inside and out
  • During school holiday periods undertake specific cleaning tasks eg: buffing wooden floors and cleaning kitchen filters
  • Maintain site security
  • Demonstrate a sound knowledge of health and safety regulations commensurate with the post eg: Water Hygiene, Fire Safety, COSHH
  • Liaise with the School Business Manager, external contractors and other staff members
  • Be flexible, thrive on variety and be adaptable to change
  • Have a ‘can do’ approach
  • Be willing to contribute ideas and solutions to problems

The post is 37 hours per week, split shift, all year round, and includes 5 weeks paid holiday per year (to be taken in school holiday periods). The pay is Kent Range 4 and overtime is available to meet additional workloads and the demands of special projects.

St Nicholas CE Primary Academy, as part of Aquila, The Diocese of Canterbury Academies Trust, is situated in the heart of New Romney, set in beautiful surroundings, and is well-resourced to meet the needs of its 15 classes and 400+ children, in this over-subscribed and well-maintained school judged Good with Outstanding features by OFSTED (May 2019).
