We are looking to appoint a teaching assistant to join our school from 31st October 2016 to work initially with a Key Stage 2 class.

The applicant will need to be qualified, have some experience working in Key Stage 2 and have an understanding of the needs of children of this age.  Knowledge of the national curriculum is essential and they should have experience of working as part of a team.

Applicants would also benefit from experience in other key stages as staff are required to be adaptable and be able to work in different classes over time.  The candidate would need to demonstrate strong literacy and numeracy skills in order to assist the teacher in delivering the lessons and to enable the children to reach their full potential.

The successful candidate will be required to prepare learning areas, lead intervention groups and support children with learning needs as well as occasionally being responsible for the whole class. They would also need to be flexible and enthusiastic with a positive attitude.

This is part-time appointment (term-time only) 17 hours per week 9.00am until 12.00noon Monday to Friday and 1.15pm until 3.15pm on one afternoon. This will be paid on KR3 pro rata (see Job Description for more details).

Singlewell school has a warm, family feel and is situated in a pleasant, leafy site on the outskirts of Gravesend. The school has been expanded to two form entry from September 2016 and had a new building constructed. We are now at full capacity with two classes in each year group from Reception through to Year 6. All classes have support assistants. We are very lucky to have modern buildings and facilities and spacious grounds.

Our Ofsted inspection recognised that Singlewell is a Good school. Progress and attainment are high across the school and teaching is good. It stated that attendance is high, behaviour is good and children enjoy coming to school. Pupils are eager to learn and work enthusiastically together. There are very positive relationships between pupils and staff.
