HLTA with speech and language specialism

15 hours per week Kent Range 5 (term time only)

St Peter’s are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable HLTA to support children who have speech and language difficulties.

You will be responsible for running our speech and language programmes (Language for Thinking, Black Sheep etc), screening children using Junior Language Link and liaising closely with the Speech and Language Therapy Department.

You will need to be able to implement intervention programmes working on a one to one basis, small groups and in class support when needed.

Good communication and interpersonal skills along with a positive approach are required for this rewarding position working alongside a great team of teaching and support staff.

We are a three form entry Church of England junior school set in lovely grounds on the edge of Broadstairs. Our children achieve highly in sports, the arts and of course academically and we pride ourselves on the quality of care and the richness of the curriculum that we provide for all our children.

Our school and all its personnel are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children. This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service and Disqualification by Association checks.

For more information and to arrange a visit to our lovely school, please contact Caroline Da Costa in our office on 01843 861430

Information about the school

Our Ofsted inspection in May 2023 judged St Peters to be an outstanding school in all areas and for the last four years we have been amongst the highest achieving schools in the local area. We pride ourselves on our strengths in art, music, sport and drama where our specialist teachers and performance spaces enable children to really excel.

Although the school was established in 1694 our present building is much newer, having been opened by the Archbishop of Canterbury in 1998. We have good links with our local secondary schools. The majority of our children join us in Year 3 from Callis Grange Infants with whom we have a linked admissions policy but also have children from other schools joining us.

We have a warm and caring environment where all children, parents and staff work together as part of a positive learning culture, which enables our children to grow and learn in an atmosphere of true care and respect and develop into young people of whom we can be genuinely proud. This is through the combination of high quality teaching and pastoral care, rooted in our strong Christian values. These values and traditions help children to gain an understanding of society today and help us to prepare them well for life in modern Britain.

Our ‘all round’ curriculum means St Peter’s children flourish academically, artistically, musically, dramatically and on the sports field. We work hard to help each and every child to fulfil their potential as we believe that there is success in every child.

St. Peter's Junior School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Child Protection Policy, available on our website.
