Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to become a teacher at our brand new school, The Beacon, Folkestone.  As of September 2016, Foxwood & Highview School will be moving into our purpose built facility and we are looking for outstanding staff to join us in this new venture.

We are looking to appoint a Y3 teacher who can personalise the curriculum to meet our children’s very special needs, manage a team of teaching assistants and work creatively with colleagues.

The Beacon is a special provision for pupils aged 3-19 who have either moderate, profound or severe learning difficulties; our children have a wide range of disabilities, including autism, physical and sensory impairments. They are a delight to teach!

We have been recognised recently for our excellent staff training programme through gaining the Gold Continuing Professional Learning and Development Award. All new staff receive a full induction programme and are supported throughout the year to meet their personal and professional Appraisal Targets.

The Beacon is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment.

Please note this post is subject to receipt of two good references and an enhanced DBS disclosure.

Visits to the school are welcome and can be arranged through the school office.

Information about the school

Foxwood is part of a Federation with Highview School. In September 2016 we will merge into one new school and move to our new premises and have a brand new name, The Beacon, Folkestone. We are very proud to announce that in June 2014 both schools received Outstanding in their Ofsted inspections. The Beacon will cater for young people experiencing moderate, profound and severe learning difficulties, often arising out of a combination of needs in addition to cognition and learning. We are a mixed school who caters for pupils aged 3-19 years.
