We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Early Years teacher to join us in our brand new pre-school and to play an instrumental and pivotal role in the opening and development of the class.

You must have a solid track record of successfully teaching in an Early Years environment and have strong leadership and communication skills as well as a clear understanding of child protection and safeguarding. Candidates should be proactive and take pride and ownership in their contribution to the whole school. A passion for the outdoors would be desirable as we have excellent facilities and are a Forest School. You should have the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing in order to provide quality feedback for our parents and carers on a daily basis.

The main responsibility will be to provide a high quality of education and learning and ensuring that the children are receiving appropriate stimulation and support. Other responsibilities include:

long term, medium term and sessional curriculum plans which take into account the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum
monitoring the effectiveness of the teaching
implementing systems of observation and record keeping so that children’s progress and achievements are effectively and regularly assessed
managing staff working in the pre-school class including team meetings, induction and appraisals and monitoring the effectiveness of the teaching

Other responsibilities and duties are within the job description, however; administrative tasks linked to pre-school settings will be carried out by the school’s office staff.

Visits to the school are essential prior to applying for the role. Our Headteacher, Mrs Sarah Garrett, will give you a tour of the school and discuss the position in detail with you.
