About Us

ALP Schools are a group of small independent schools that specialise in engaging young people with special educational needs (SEN) and challenging behaviour. At Parkview Academy, we pride ourselves on providing a supportive, inclusive, and nurturing environment that enables every learner to reach their full potential.

Our ethos is built around our core values: Attendance, Routine, Respect, Relationships, Trust, and Teaching (ARRRT).

Job Purpose

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Tutor to deliver lessons to small groups of learners within our independent special school. You will plan and deliver a Foundation Learning curriculum, ensuring all pupils access English, Maths, ICT, vocational subjects, and personal and social development.

You will support students in building confidence, developing positive relationships, and maintaining good attendance and behaviour. The role also includes guiding Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to help ensure learners make progress and achieve their goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging lessons across the Foundation Learning curriculum.

  • Plan, prepare and adapt lessons in collaboration with the Deputy Head Teacher or Qualified Teacher.

  • Track and assess learner progress and provide regular feedback.

  • Implement and promote positive behaviour strategies.

  • Build effective relationships with pupils, parents/carers, and staff.

  • Support and guide LSAs and Junior Assistant Teachers in lesson delivery.

  • Promote inclusion and independent learning within a supportive classroom environment.

  • Uphold and model the school’s ARRRT values.

  • Maintain accurate records, including IEPs, risk assessments and progress tracking.

  • Contribute to a safe, respectful, and positive learning environment.

About You

We are looking for someone with a genuine passion for supporting young people with SEN and additional needs. You should be able to motivate and inspire learners who may have experienced challenges in mainstream education.

Essential:

  • Qualification in English/literacy and Maths/numeracy (minimum Level 2).

  • A relevant qualification in Teaching and Learning (e.g., PTTLS, Level 3, TA or HLTA).

  • Experience working with young people who have SEN or behavioural needs.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.

  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.

  • Positive, resilient, and solution-focused attitude.

Desirable:

  • QTS or equivalent higher-level teaching qualification.

  • Experience delivering accredited Foundation Learning or vocational courses.

  • Full driving licence and willingness to use a vehicle for work.

What We Offer

  • A supportive and collaborative working environment.

  • Opportunities for professional development and ongoing training.

  • The chance to make a real difference in the lives of young people.

  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
