As the Caretaker of a two-form entry infant school:

• You will be responsible for ensuring the site is kept clean and safe for our school community.
• You will be responsible for unlocking the school in the morning and undertaking security checks.
• You will be working alongside a small team of cleaners and together, you will create a clean, hygienic and inviting environment that is conducive to learning.
• You will be responsible for managing the upkeep and maintenance of the site, signposting to outside contractors when necessary, for buildings, grounds, and equipment.
• You must have excellent communication skills and be able to work collaboratively with staff, parents, children and external contractors.

This post is for 15 hours per week and will usually be in the morning, however there may be times when the Caretaker is needed to work split shifts to close the school at the end of the day, so some flexibility is required. This position would suit someone who is local to the school. 

Information about the school

Downs View is a two entry purpose built Infant School on the outskirts of Ashford. We have 195 children in our school. We enjoy an excellent partnership with other local schools and settings, including Kennington C of E Academy. In October 2023 we were graded Good overall by Ofsted with Outstanding n Early years, Behaviour and Attitudes and Personal Development . We have extensive grounds which we utilise to maximise learning. We have embraced OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning ) which is having a positive impact on play at playtimes and lunch times. We are part of a very proactive CATs collaboration where we benefit from working in partnership with fifteen other local schools in Ashford. We value play and child-initiated learning across our school which has resulted in high quality learning through play both inside and outside.
