Offham Primary School are currently seeking a General Kitchen Assistant, to work alongside our School Chef daily. This is a maternity cover post. Hours of work are Monday - Friday 10.30 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. term time only. 

At Offham Primary School, we provide our own catering and you will be working alongside an experienced School Chef. We pride ourselves on delivering healthy and tasty school meals, including a main, vegetarian and packed lunch option daily. We also cater for a number of children with special dietary requirements. Our children and our families help us to select our menus, meaning that children really enjoy school dinners. Our school kitchen has also been recently refurbished and has an excellent new combination oven.

Our Kitchen Assistant is a vital part of our catering team, helping to prepare our daily meals and ensure that our kitchen always meets 5* food hygiene standards. 

Daily duties to include:

  • Cleaning the kitchen, including washing kitchen appliances, work surfaces, floors and walls
    • Carrying out basic food preparation tasks
    • Ensuring our chef is equipped with the food and tools needed
    • Helping the chef get ready for service by preparing food. Kitchen assistants may be expected to peel, trim or wash food so it is ready to be cooked or prepare puddings or basic elements of the daily meal.
    • Loading and unloading the dishwasher
    • Helping to serve meals

Ideally we are looking for someone who enjoys working with children, is kind, patient and has a good sense of humour.  We would like someone who is hard working and can pick up new tasks quickly and with ease.
