As a school we are looking to appoint a committed, creative and effective SENCO to join our friendly, supportive, and highly committed team of professionals within our school. The post is offered for 3 or 4 days per week.

The SENCO qualification is desirable but not essential initially, as time will be provided for achieving this qualification.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supporting and monitoring of Annual Reviews and Provision Plans. Including quality assurance of the paperwork and processes.
  • Developing Teaching and Learning throughout the school.
  • Monitoring the standard of Teaching and Learning, providing feedback to the Senior Leadership Team on a termly basis.
  • Supporting the Senior Leadership Team with Deep Dives.
  • Working with and supporting ECT and Unqualified Teachers.
  • Leading literacy and numeracy development across the school.
  • Development of Maths Mastery, Read Write Inc, Talk for Writing and Accelerated Reader; monitoring the delivery of each across the school.

Requirements:

  • Have QTS and a proven track record of outstanding teaching and great outcomes for pupils.
  • Experience with SEND.
  • Experience with the EHCP process.
  • Experience as a subject leader for Maths and English.
  • Experience leading staff.
  • Ability to work under own initiative.
  • Enjoy a collaborative approach to school improvement in a team environment.
  • Have a passion for lifelong learning within children, families and colleagues.
  • Value the importance of relationships.
  • Ability to work within the SEND Code of Practice, particularly being robust and rigorous in relation to the Assess-Plan-Do-Review cycle.
  • High levels of written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and produce detailed reports.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Excellent understanding and application of SEN programmes and resources to best meet the needs of our children.

Information about the school

Rowhill School is a day special school designated for pupils with Social Emotional and Mental Health difficulties. The school currently has approximately 160 pupils on roll, between the ages of 5 and 16. Pupils have a wide range of needs, including communication and interaction difficulties, as well as behavioural, social and mental health needs. We also provide an Alternative Curriculum Provision for KS4 pupils, providing tutoring, both on and off site.

The Dartford STLS teaching service also forms part of the schools structure.
