We are seeking a new member of our team to undertake the role of Senco Assistant working along side our fantastic SENCo.  This is a role which requires a can do attitude, an organised approach and the ability to work with a range of professional stakeholders, teachers, parents and pupils.  An understanding and  appreciation of special educational needs would be an advantage but the essential qualities required will include compassion, flexibility and the ability to engage with pupils with passion, determination and resilience. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • To support the SENCo in the development of the schools Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provision and implement the SEND Code of Practice within the school.
  • To assist in timetabling pupil meetings with multi agency professionals and ensure they are within a time framework and have responsibility for the distribution of any pre meeting materials and reports.
  • To support the SENCo in administration duties to ensure the meetings of vulnerable students and CIC are well conducted and documents are up to date. 
  • To support the SENCo in delivering interventions to specific students either 1:1 or small groups as stated on their individual provision plans.
  • To ensure SEN provision documents, such as PEPs, EHCP reviews, CLA reviews and Provision Plans are correctly updated and stored in the school’s database.

Information about the school

Cornfields school in Ashford and Belle Vue School is in Cranbrook. Both are small and nurturing specialist school with a maximum of 50 and 60 pupils respectively at each school. Our schools are calm, quiet and orderly settings where pupils can be supported to develop academically and emotionally. The schools are graded outstanding.
