Barton Court Academy Trust (BCAT) is a multi-academy Trust which was established in 2017.

It currently consists of three secondary schools: Barton Court Grammar School, an 11-18 years, mixed selective school in the heart of Canterbury, rated “Good” with many outstanding features by Ofsted in February 2020, and The Charles Dickens School, an 11-16 years mixed non-selective school in Broadstairs, which came out of special measures and is rated “Requires Improvement” by Ofsted in June 2019 and is a rapidly improving school. Barton Manor Free School, is an 11–18 years non-selective mixed school in the heart of Canterbury which opened to Year 7 in September 2022.

The Post

As a highly respected and successful Trust we are seeking to appoint a BCAT HR Manager to lead, manage and develop a proactive, high quality and effective HR service for our schools.

This role offers an experienced HR professional, the opportunity to provide and manage a comprehensive to promote best practice across the Trust.

This is an exciting and truly hands-on HR position so we are looking for someone who is highly motivated, CIPD qualified (Level 5 or higher) and possesses a strong awareness of operational HR issues, with at least 5 years’ experience within an educational setting.

The successful candidate will be highly skilled and comfortable with all aspects of generalist HR, including employee relations and compliance, be confident in employment law and have the ability to embed a strong performance management culture. You will be able to demonstrate strong management and influencing skills and be confident in the calibre of the advice you give. You will be a proactive, creative individual that is results-driven and who is confident in your ability to build trust and respect with colleagues.

The role will require some travel within the Trust area which includes 2 schools in Canterbury and one in Thanet.

Salary: BCAT 11 (CIPD Level 5 Qualified) - £43,216 - £49,323
BCAT 12 (CIPD Level 7 Qualified) - £49,522 - £57,712
