We are seeking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant to join our hard working and supportive team to provide 1:1 support for a child with Special Educational Needs.

Your role will require you to support the child's learning in all areas of the curriculum. Previous experience of working with children as a 1:1 would be an advantage, especially in relation to cognition and learning; an ability to manipulate planning from the classteacher to make it age appropriate and a knowledge of early phonics would also be of benefit, but all required training will be provided.

The post may also require you to undertake other general teaching assistant duties within Key Stage Two.

This post is linked to a child and funding is reviewed annually.

This post is supporting the child part time and includes a 30 minute lunch duty.

Further information about the school is available from our website, or to see for yourself everything that St John’s has to offer please come and visit the school to see first-hand. Please contact the school office to arrange a mutually convenient time.

Information about the school

St John’s Church of England Primary School (controlled) is a one form entry thriving school in the heart of Sevenoaks town. With close community links and a strong Christian ethos, everyone is valued, encouraged and nurtured to be their best. The school was judged Good at the last Ofsted inspection (April 2023).

We are a happy, caring school where staff work together well and care deeply for each and every pupil at the school. Visitors always compliment us on the children’s confidence and the positive atmosphere in the school.

The curriculum is ambitious and provides opportunities for pupils to succeed. We are committed to providing engaging and inspiring learning experiences that go beyond the curriculum. Pupils’ well-being sits firmly at the heart of our provision. Academic excellence is valued equally alongside personal development.

The school enjoys an active, positive working relationship with the Governing body, parents, Church and the wider community. We are members of the Sevenoaks Partnership of schools, which provides support and professional development to a group of local schools.

The school is a stimulating and engaging learning environment that is both well-resourced and in good order. It is rare in offering specialist Spanish, Music, and PE teaching, a real strength in a rich curriculum.

Close links exist with the Church of St John the Baptist, the parish priest leading worship and being a frequent pastoral presence in the school.

It is our aim for the children to leave St John’s confident, resilient, and ready to contribute to society, leading fulfilling lives and making a positive difference in God’s amazing world.
