We require a dedicated, knowledgeable, self-motivated professional to join the Senior Management Team as Head of Care and Safeguarding.

The role will see the successful individual leading the School’s ‘Outstanding’ Safeguarding and Residential teams. The postholder will be a key contributor to the School’s Senior Management Team by leading on staff safeguarding training, policies and procedures and acting as a role model/ key influencer for best practice within our school community.  The role will encompass strategic planning within the forward development of the School in the areas of Safeguarding and Care.

You will be supporting students with their academic, personal and social development.  This role is demanding and challenging, but very rewarding.  All of our learners have EHCP’s and as a school we are proud to promote the development of life skills and social development as being equal to academic achievement.  West Heath School works towards the end goal of helping students re-integrate into mainstream learning and preparation for adulthood.  Applicants must be prepared to work in the school environment, including beyond the school day and occasionally at external locations when required.

Key Requirements

  • Clear understanding of care and safeguarding legislation, statutory guidance and best practice
  • Relevant care management qualification
  • Designated Safeguarding Lead experience
  • Able to demonstrate a broad knowledge of trends and initiatives within the education sector and how this knowledge can be applied to the development and improvement of curriculum and care services
  • Proven ability to deal with crisis and emergencies effectively
  • An equality and diversity champion
  • Full driving licence and use of own vehicle
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Able to make sound decisions under pressure
  • Team player, proactive, creative and innovative
