An exciting opportunity has arisen for an aspiring leader.  We are looking to appoint an Assistant Headteacher to join our dedicated team to primarily focus on Teaching & Learning, ideally with a Science or Maths specialism.  

The successful applicant will join the school's Senior Leadership Team and provide support to the Headteacher with her vision to raise standards across all areas of school life.  

Applicants need to be dynamic and dedicated to providing an exceptional environment for pupils to thrive and achieve not only in academic study but across their lives generally.  For many students, the Maidstone & Malling Alternative Provision is providing a fresh start and we work hard to ensure that standards are stretched and improved in order to provide the best learning opportunities for our students.

You will be given an area of special focus which you will drive towards our goal of reaching 'Outstanding' in our next Ofsted inspection. Our fantastic team all have a steadfast commitment to improving performance, provide support and encourage success.  In return, we will provide an extensive training package and support from an experienced SLT with opportunities to develop further towards the role of Deputy Headteacher.

  • adhering to the requirements as set out in the current version of KCSIE
  • attend/complete all MMAP training in relation to safeguarding

  • be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Information about the school

The Maidstone and Malling Alternative Provision (MMAP) is located approximately 1 mile from the centre of Maidstone and is the hub of the Maidstone and Malling Inclusion Service.

The Provision supports young people with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties from KS3 to KS4. These students may be at risk of permanent exclusion from their mainstream setting and the Provision offers outreach, transition and respite support for KS3 students. The placements in KS4 are usually longer term to enable students to complete their qualifications.

Maidstone and Malling Alternative Provision is committed to the education and social development of all its students and our broad curriculum provides the opportunities for our students to be successful academically and vocationally.

Our Ofsted inspection in November 2019 was rated Good with Outstanding elements and we are continuing to develop the quality of learning and our holistic strategies.
