This role is a term time only +5 days post working Monday to Friday.

Usual working hours would be 37 hrs pw but some flexibility in hours worked could be offered to the right candidate.

Salary - Kent Range 4-5 (dependent on experience), pro rata

In this important role, you will join our supportive and experienced team in our busy science department in our newly refurbished science block.

As a Science Technician you will: 

  • Prepare laboratory and scientific materials and equipment for class use, including experiments, demonstrations
  • Prepare solutions and chemicals to a high standard and demonstrate clean and methodical working
  • Support the science department in ensuring that equipment, apparatus, tools are kept in good order and repaired, serviced or replaced when necessary.
  • Support the Senior Science Technician in carrying out routine and ad-hoc safety checks on equipment, as required, and keep a record of all inspections

 

To succeed in this role, you will: 

  • Be educated to a Level 2 Diploma or equivalent to include Maths and English at GCSE C or above.
  • Have experience of working in a scientific field or laboratory environment (desirable)

  • Have an understanding of basic principles of health and safety in a school environment

  • Have the ability to build and form good relationships with young people and colleagues
