We are looking to recruit a School Caretaker for 35 hours per week, all year round, to ensure the facilities on site are robust, secure and sustainable and to implement routines and schedules to ensure all H & S Legislation is met.

 Duties will include:

  • Planning preventative maintenance, ad-hoc repairs and minor works to grounds and buildings.
  • Maintaining the security of the buildings and grounds, including patrols and inspections of the site and perimeter.
  • Liaising with contractors and ensuring ‘best value’.
  • Moving furniture and supplies as requested and occasionally working at height.
  • Maintaining and operating the security systems, fire alarms and extinguishers, water hygiene testing, boilers, keeping statutory testing and paperwork up to date and in order.
  • Working with other members of the premises team to clean and keep a good standard of cleanliness throughout the site.
  • Clearing snow and gritting the site when necessary.
  • Maintaining all tools and equipment and ensuring all items are correctly stored and labelled according the Health and Safety legislation.
  • Opening the school site. Occasionally this may be over a weekend or later in the evening when there are private lettings or school events.
