Advert

Chilmington Green Primary School are looking to appoint a SENCo (0.6 FTE) to start in April 2023. Our school is growing and we are excited to add a new member to our team!

We are looking for applicants with previous experience and who have completed the National Award for SEN Coordination. They should also have demonstrated outstanding practice when in role as a classroom teacher with experience of working with children with additional needs. We will consider applicants who are currently working towards the National Award or experienced teachers who wish to start this.

The successful candidate will benefit from working collaboratively with the other experienced Special Educational Needs Coordinators in the Trust and be part of an inspirational and creative team working within Chilmington Green.

This strategic role will include leading, developing and supporting effective practice for children with special and additional needs. There will be a heavy focus on developing teachers to provide ‘quality first’ teaching, supporting teachers to remove barriers to learning and early identification of special need. The successful applicant will have oversight of our Specialist Resourced Provision - the SRP at Chilmington is a designated autism provision therefore experience of supporting children with autism would be advantageous.

In our SRP we aim to equip pupils with the skills they require to function successfully in a mainstream class. The SENCo will work closely with the SRP Lead Teacher and outside agencies to ensure the most effective provision for each individual child.

In addition to the oversight of the day to day running and organisation of the SRP and supporting class teachers, the SENCo will have responsibility for leading on Annual Review meetings and statutory EHCP paperwork.

Please see the attached person specifications for more details about the skills and qualities we are looking for in our ideal candidate
