Ramsgate Arts Primary School is looking to appoint an inspirational Deputy Headteacher to join our established Arts primary school. We are looking to recruit an ambitious senior leader who would like to develop and hone their leadership skills before taking that courageous step into Headship.

Creativity is just connecting things. When you ask creative people how they did something...they were able to connect experiences they’ve had and synthesize new things. And the reason they were able to do that was that they’ve had more experiences or that they have thought more about their experiences than other people. Unfortunately, that’s too rare a commodity.’ Steve Jobs.

Applicants do not need to currently be on a Leadership Team but must be able to show that they have proven school leadership experience that has had a significant impact on the whole school. Above anything else, you must have an uncompromising passion for teaching and believe that you can make the necessary contribution to ensuring the best start for every child, both leading teaching yourself and by taking whole school leadership responsibility.

Our Deputy Headteacher will:

  • Be an inspirational and talented teacher with a proven track record of improving outcomes for children.
  • Be a courageous school leader – our pupils deserve a first-class educational experience. You must resolutely believe this and be prepared to question practices in the school that do not match the high standards we expect from every member of the RAPS staff.
  • Have proven experience as a coach and mentor, working alongside new teachers to develop excellent practice.
  • Have a passion and interest in the Arts.
  • Lead on pupil well-being, ensuring our children display excellent learning behaviour inspired by an engaging curriculum that challenges all our pupils.
  • Be an excellent role model for staff and pupils; embracing our ‘One Childhood One Chance’ philosophy.
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills; able to establish positive relationships built on mutual trust and respect.

You can expect:

  • Talented pupils, each deserving a Deputy Headteacher that will willingly go that extra mile to ensure they succeed.
  • Excellent CPD, including NPQH, and other leadership training opportunities. Career progression to Headship will be actively encouraged.
  • A supportive school community with an inspirational, new, state of the art building.
  • A dedicated, skilled staff team, committed to ensure all pupils achieve their potential.
  • The challenge and opportunity to take a pivotal role in our journey towards “outstanding status”

The role is non-class based however the expectation will be for the post-holder to fulfil a teaching commitment.

Prospective candidates will be expected to make a visit prior to submitting an application and meet with Mrs Michaela Lewis, Executive Headteacher and Mr Nick Budge, Head of School.

Please contact Nick Budge for further details: headofschool@ramsgateartsprimaryschool.co.uk or Aimee Trevelyan to book a tour: aimee.trevelyan@ramsgateartsprimaryschool.co.uk
