We are looking for a committed, enthusiastic and experienced Teaching Assistant to join our team at Upton Junior School for 15 hours a week. You should be a positive and enthusiastic person who loves working with children and helping them to strive for their best.

Experience of working across children with Special Educational Needs would be an advantage and also experience of working in KS2. Your numeracy and literacy will be of a high enough calibre to improve standards. You will be able to communicate effectively with children and adults, have a flexible attitude, good sense of humour and be friendly and approachable. Good time management and the ability to work on your own initiative are essential.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting groups of children in achieving the lesson objective in English, Maths and across all areas of the curriculum.
  • Leading intervention groups.
  • Feeding back to the class teacher, sometimes keeping records of progress and behaviour.

Above all you need to like children, to want the very best for them and be prepared to put their needs first: children will be at the heart of your work. You must be able to demonstrate that you understand the importance of educating the whole child within a creative and innovative school setting.

Upton Junior School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including reference checks with previous employers.  You are advised that this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020, and therefore this post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

All applications will be considered and all relevant training will be given to the right candidate.

If you are interested in this position, please complete the application form on this website.

Closing date: 20th January 2023

Start Date: 20th February 2023

This role is a fixed term contract until 31st December 2023.
