Working Hours: Paid 35 hours per week, 8.30 am - 3.30 pm, Term Time Only

Salary: KR5 (FTE £20,595 + SEN Allowance £1,323 pa)

Due to the increase in student referrals, we are looking for 2 dynamic and passionate Teaching Assistants who are seeking a new and rewarding role where you can make a difference.

This is an excellent opportunity to offer you variety, as no two days are the same!, and the chance to make a significant and positive impact to the way that children learn and engage.  

This exciting and varied opening has arisen for talented and committed individuals to join our Alternative Provision to work with our pupils in order to reduce the gaps in their learning, whilst providing them with the confidence to re-engage in the school setting.

To be successful in this role you will have a minimum of five Level 2 qualifications including English and Mathematics (GCSE or the equivalent).  Previous experience of working with children would be beneficial but not essential as full training and support will be given.  An enthusiasm to learn to drive the school minibus would also be encouraged.

Pupils follow a curriculum that is varied and includes core subjects alongside a dynamic programme of PHSE activities that develop their transferable skills and allow them to understand the world around them.

This role is pivotal to ensuring a significant impact on the school and its pupils: enabling the pupils to build self-esteem, confidence and resilience, pupils are more likely to be successful in their education and not become NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) in the future.

Information about the school

The Maidstone and Malling Alternative Provision (MMAP) is located approximately 1 mile from the centre of Maidstone and is the hub of the Maidstone and Malling Inclusion Service.

The Provision supports young people with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties from KS3 to KS4. These students may be at risk of permanent exclusion from their mainstream setting and the Provision offers outreach, transition and respite support for KS3 students. The placements in KS4 are usually longer term to enable students to complete their qualifications.

Maidstone and Malling Alternative Provision is committed to the education and social development of all its students and our broad curriculum provides the opportunities for our students to be successful academically and vocationally.

Our Ofsted inspection in November 2019 was rated Good with Outstanding elements and we are continuing to develop the quality of learning and our holistic strategies.
