(LEAD) SPEECH AND LANGUAGE THERAPIST

Therapy Band 5 – 7 DOE

Permanent position

37.5 hours per week, all year round

We are seeking a Band 5 - 6 Speech and Language Therapist, with the option of recruiting a Band 7 Lead Speech and Language Therapist for a suitably experienced candidate. 

In this role you will work in a specialist Communication Team (Including the Learning Resources Centre) to support children and young adults with complex needs including Autistic Spectrum Disorders, Severe Learning Disabilities and associated challenging behaviours. This will be carried out in close collaboration with all contact staff and teams, to develop the students’ overall communication and language skills with a focus on functional skills in everyday life.

You will be required to take the lead on all communication and language issues at Bradstow, acting as the point of reference for educational and residential staff teams at all levels. You will also be responsible for providing support, guidance and professional development to child contact staff and families on developing functional communication skills.

A Lead Speech and Language Therpist will additionally lead and line manage all members of the specialist Communication Team, including the Learning Resource Centre.

Information about the school

Bradstow is a residential special school registered as a children's home in Broadstairs, Kent. It is maintained by the London Borough of Wandsworth for children and young people with severe intellectual disabilities who are on the autistic spectrum continuum. Many of our children and young people have associated communication difficulties and emotional/behavioural challenges associated with their disabilities and medical needs.
