Salary: NJC Scale 6 Points 18-22 pro rata to £22,7843 - £24,662

37 hours per week term time plus 10 days in the school summer holidays

We seek a dynamic and highly motivated individual to determine and manage strategies to improve the attendance of individual students across Years 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11. The successful candidate will line manage the Attendance and Student Services staff within the school. They will also be responsible for developing and overseeing the maintenance of computer-based and manual student record systems related to registration and attendance.

The successful candidate will have unlimited optimism, good communication skills, an understanding of the needs of young people, a tenacity to succeed and strong leadership and management skills.

Skills in mediation, negotiation, problem solving, confidence in the ability to be assertive when necessary, a willingness to work with other agencies and have the ability to organise work are necessary for this post.  

The post requires a good standard of education but more importantly an attitude which is positive and supportive towards young people and their families.

Information about the school

Homewood School and Sixth Form Centre is a mixed 11 – 18 wide ability school with Academy status with 2000 students including 350 in the Sixth Form. We are part of Tenterden Schools’ Trust working in collaboration with local primary schools and nurseries serving the Wealden town of Tenterden and the surrounding villages. The school is situated on the edge of Tenterden and enjoys a large semi-rural site overlooking open countryside. Home Farm Nursery is based in the grounds of Homewood School.

Homewood has excellent facilities for all its students and our specialisms in Performing Arts, Applied Learning and the Rural Dimension underpin our approaches to learning which are designed to raise achievement across the whole student body. We aim to maintain and develop the cultural aspirations of the school community in line with our priorities of “belonging” and “respect” and offer a broad range of curriculum opportunities in all subject areas.
