Hours: 33 hours, term time only.

An opportunity has arisen to join the Study Supervisors team. The successful applicant will supervise classes in the absence of the subject teacher and will be responsible for the registration of students, assist in the invigilation of both internal and external exams and be willing to undertake First Aid training if no certificate is held.  Applicants with an interest in teaching and learning are preferred, but not essential as other qualifications and skills will be taken into consideration. This role would be ideal for candidates wishing to gain valuable classroom experience; possibly as a precursor to teacher training or studying for a classroom support qualification.  It would equally suit an individual who has a strong belief on the impact that education can have on the futures of young people.

This advert may close sooner that stated if sufficient applications are received, so please apply straight away if you are interested in this position.

A fully completed application form (we do not accept CV's in isolation) should be submitted on the school website.

Please note that school tours are not available before shortlisting. The school will endeavour to provide a school tour to candidates who are shortlisted for interview.

The school is committed to safeguarding children and the post is subject to an enhanced disclosure check.

Information about the school

STS is an 11 to 18, mixed, secondary school that has an excellent reputation across Kent where "Pupils engage well in learning. They enjoy their lessons and behave well. Pupils show respect for each other and value the work their teachers do to support them" (OFSTED May 2019).

The success of our students from Year 7 through to the Sixth Form is due to the ‘can do, will do’ attitude that is the hallmark of staff and students alike. At STS we ‘Hold fast that which is good’: a broad and engaging curriculum; interesting, inspiring and innovative classroom practice; as well as a whole host of enriching extra-curricular activity. Throughout their time at STS the students are provided with quality advice, support and guidance to help them progress and grow academically, personally and vocationally. We recognise and celebrate diversity and understand that a ‘one size fits all’ approach is inappropriate for the unique individuals we serve.
