Advert

Science Teacher needed for maternity cover with a January 2023 start, part-time preferred but full-time will be considered.  A one year fixed term contract in the first instance ending in January 2024, with the strong possibility of extension for the right candidate.

We are now looking to add to our close-knit team of dedicated and dynamic teaching staff.  We want to appoint a Teacher of Science who is capable of teaching to GCSE, with A Level. Biology, Chemistry or Physics specialists are welcomed, as are general scientists.

As well as future opportunities at Wye School, there will be possibilities at Chilmington Green School, a second United Learning school that is due to open in Ashford in September 2023 and be in a cluster arrangement with Wye School.

We welcome applications from candidates with varying degrees of experience, including ECTs. We have a strong ECT induction programme and offer extensive training opportunities to more experienced candidates through United Learning.

Applications will be considered on receipt. Suitable candidates will be interviewed on receipt of application and Wye School reserves the right to withdraw the position if an early appointment is made.

To arrange an informal discussion, please contact emma.betts@wyeschool.org.uk

Information about the school

Wye School has a vision of excellence, a vision shared by all staff and students. Rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted in 2018, the school is dedicated to ensuring each student gains the knowledge, confidence and skills to make a success of their future lives. The school caters for Years 7 -13 with a roll of 600, housed in a new building situated in the beautiful Kent Downs countryside, offering an outstanding environment for staff and students. The first GCSE results in 2018 were above average for Progress 8 and above national average Attainment 8, and followed by an equally strong second set of results in 2019. Students are well behaved and hard working and our staff form a friendly and committed team. As the smallest local secondary school, great pride is taken in strong relationships internally and with parents and the community.

Located within close proximity of Wye village centre, the school is at the very heart of the local community and has the potential to grow into a truly exceptional school. Wye is perfectly located to enjoy the Kent countryside, whilst still being within an hour of London thanks to HS1.
