We are seeking to appoint a Teaching Assistant to help accelerate the learning and personal development of the children and to enable them to make the best use of the educational opportunities available at St. Ethelbert’s. This will be as a class based teaching assistant role.

This is a temporary contract initially but to be reviewed at the end of the academic year to be made permanent.

We are looking for an exceptional applicant who has appropriate, relevant, qualifications and experience in a similar role.

The successful candidate will:

  • have a good knowledge and understanding of the EYFS and Primary Curriculum;
  • be an exceptional role model; passionate in developing high standards and expectations for all pupils;
  • have ambition, enthusiasm, resilience and the ability to inspire and motivate others;
  • work as part of a team and be committed to ensuring high expectations for pupils, staff and themselves;
  • take a full and active role in all aspects of school life and passionately promote a clear child-centred vision;

We welcome Catholic and Non-Catholic applicants. Non-Catholic’s must be able to support the Catholic life and ethos of the school, have good numeracy and literacy skills. Experience of working with children is vital.

This role is required for 32.5 hours a week. (8:30am - 3:30pm Monday to Friday). 30 minutes lunch time supervision is included in the hours.

Pay Scale KR 3 pro rata

This post is subject to a 6-month probation period.

St Ethelbert’s Catholic Primary School is a one form entry school set in the heart of the Georgian town of Ramsgate, Kent, just a short walk from the beaches overlooking the English Channel. The school had its last Ofsted Inspection in June 2019 and is rated Good. It had a denominational inspection in May 2023 and is rated Outstanding. Our staff and governors are hard-working, caring, supportive and friendly and the children are very well behaved. With our church being on the school site we are building strong links with our local community. Our school motto is ‘High Expectations for all, in the Light of Christ’.
