Experienced SEN Teaching Assistant - 1 year Fixed Term

Kent Range 5, 27.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (including 5 INSET days)

(£13,224.17 -£13, 929.20) + SEN Allowance

Term Time only

The Malling School is looking to appoint a highly motivated, experienced Teaching Assistant to work with students in our ever expanding secondary school with large Specialist Resourced Provision. 

You will contribute to the management and support of pupils during learning activities. Establish and maintain relationships with individual pupils and groups. Provide cover supervision for whole classes where and when required. Be able to review and develop your own professional practice and help pupils' therapeutic and pastoral needs.

 Essential

You will have:     

  • A good level of education with Level 2 qualifications in English and Mathematics (GCSE grade 4 or equivalent) is essential
  • At least five level 2 qualifications ( including English and Maths)     
  • Qualification or previous experience working with children with SEND 
  • Ability to use all Microsoft office packages to proficient standard     
  • Ability to relate to young people and adults, understand their needs and respond accordingly.     
  • Experience of supporting pupils with Access Arrangements in exams and a good understanding of JCQ policies and procedures
  • Experience of delivering interventions to support students academically and socially and emotionally
  • The ability to work with students in setting targets and to support students and teaching staff in implementing and reviewing targets
  • Be able to support and encourage students to interact  with others and be socially responsible

Information about the school

A mixed 11-19 co-educational High School of 1000 pupils serving the historic market town of West Malling and surrounding villages. The school is set in pleasant rural surroundings and has its own lake and extensive grounds. It was completely re-built in September 2007 and therefore has outstanding facilities.

West Malling is close to the county town of Maidstone and has excellent rail links to London and Ashford International (for the Continent).
