We are seeking a teaching assistant to work in one of our Key Stage 2 classes but with the confidence and experience to offer support in Key Stage 1 as well

 When shortlisting for these positions we will be looking for evidence that applicants:

  • Can support children's learning in and out of the classroom both individually and in groups.
  • Have a natural ability to make good relationships with children, colleagues and parents.
  • Can lead interventions for individuals and groups with confidence and initiative.
  • Are able to work independently, particularly in the teaching of interventions to small groups of children
  • Are efficient, flexible and reliable.
  • Are able to work as a positive team player with energy and enthusiasm.
  • Have a willingness to support the school's Christian ethos and contribute to the wider life of the school.

Previous successful experience as a teaching assistant would be an advantage. The relevant NVQ2/3 or equivalent is expected and GCSE Maths and English Grade C or above is essential.

The position will commence as soon as possible after a successful interview. You will be involved in general teaching assitant duties as well as implementing Catch Up programmes to support those children who may have fallen behind as a result of school closures last year.

The post is offered as a part time role - for 3 days a week 8:30am to 3:30pm with an hour lunch break (18 hours per week)

Saltwood Play and Learning Centre is a registered charity with a team of up to 15 staff operating from the grounds of Saltwood School and offering childcare for nursery and school age children during term time.
