We are looking for a caring, dynamic and resilient qualified teacher to join our staff team. Although initially covering maternity leave, we are undergoing such a phase of growth in pupil numbers that we will be looking to retain new colleagues in future years. The successful applicant will have a good standard of spoken and written English and have a creative yet flexible approach to the provision they plan. We are a highly inclusive school with a diverse range of needs and as such have a range of different deployment options dependent on the experience and interest of applicants.

At interview your motivation for working with children will be explored as well as how you meet the person specification. The selection process will also consist of activities including working with some of our pupils. Appointment to this post will be subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Information about the school

Bysing Wood is a friendly Primary School located on the western outskirts of Faversham. The school is growing in popularity, building on a successful Ofsted and the fantastic range of facilities offered alongside a great atmosphere. Currently the school has 240 children on roll, organised into 10 classes from Reception to Year 6. A building project to become 2 form entry over the next few years has been completed and provides the base for our Key Stage 2 classes. September 2018 saw the start of a Forest School provision on site and we opened a pre-school in January 2020, catering for 2,3 and 4 year olds. In March 2020, we were a founder member of EKC Schools Trust, which provides access to the EKC Group colleges' resources to further enrich our curriculum. At Bysing Wood Primary School we value each child as an individual and encourage them to achieve their personal best in a happy, secure, stimulating environment. The displays in school are a major strength and help evidence the rich, relevant, termly topic-based curriculum (with associated visitors and trips) on offer. Our staff are committed to developing the whole child, encouraging learning through knowledge, skills and practical activities. We also support them to become tolerant, respectful and caring individuals who enjoy their work and play and are proud of their achievements. The proportion of pupils eligible for free school meals is high, pointing to the social and economic challenges facing a proportion of our families, although the profile is changing over time as the housing developments in Faversham come on stream.
