As a Safeguarding Support Officer you will share the Trust’s commitment to safeguarding & promoting the welfare of all young people through having a knowledge of Government guidelines & safeguarding policies as appropriate within Westlands School. You will provide support to the safeguarding team with administration tasks required to safeguard the children and young people at the school.

Main duties:

  • To provide administrative support for the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) & the wider safeguarding team, & the nominated Governor for Safeguarding & Child Protection, including phone calls, emails & other communication;
  • To be able to respond to safeguarding concerns when required, including liaising with students, parents / carers & external agencies when necessary;

The successful candidate would need:

  • A Designated Safeguarding Lead, level 3 qualification;
  • Knowledge of current safeguarding legislation, policy & practice relating to children at risk;
  • A child-centred approach, able to maintain this perspective & use common sense;
  • An ability to write concise reports & compile case file information.

Knowledge of the statutory agencies’ roles in safeguarding children & experience of implementing policies, protocols & guidance would be an advantage.
