Five Acre Wood School is looking to appoint a committed and flexible person to support our pupils at Breakfast Club.  We are looking for someone who is creative, can work using their own initiative and enjoys working with children with special needs.

The working hours required are Monday to Friday, term time only, from 8.30-9.30am (5 hours per week in total).  The actual annual salary for the role is £2,401 per year.  

Duties will include:

  • Support with the breakfast club daily activities to ensure that children’s needs are being met.
  • Supervise the safe escorting of children to ensure their wellbeing at all times.
  • Provide healthy meals/snacks to promote healthy eating
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene
  • Be familiar with pupils healthcare plans to ensure that pupil needs are met
  • Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety, security and confidentiality reporting all concerns to an appropriate person to ensure pupils’ wellbeing.
  • Supervise and have responsibility for the safety of pupils in break and playtimes, as well as model appropriate play and interact with pupils during the breakfast club session
  • Support the physical needs of pupils (including personal care and medical needs if required) and adhere to school policy at all times.
  • Follow behaviour management programmes to ensure pupils’ wellbeing and health, safety needs are met.
  • Promote positive behaviour effectively and consistently to raise self esteem
  • Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils within the breakfast club setting
  • Attend to pupils personal care needs and assist with the organisation of breakfast meals (this may include feeding pupils by gastric tube following appropriate training) to ensure pupils’ wellbeing and health and safety.
  • Provide support for the manual handling and/or physical intervention of pupils to ensure pupils’ wellbeing, health and safety is maintained, and assist with the development of hygiene, toilet training and personal care programmes.
  • Attend to pupils personal medical needs to ensure pupils’ wellbeing and health and safety, following specialist training and competency sign off.
  • Demonstrate the expertise and skills in understanding the needs of pupils and know how to adapt and deliver support to meet individual needs
  • Ensure that all information is handled sensitively and confidentially
