COUNTY SENSORY BUSINESS SUPPORT OFFICER (Based In Sittingbourne)

Part-time - Term Time Only  - Permanent

28 hours per week - to start September 2022

Flexibility for some days to be worked from home

£11.81 per hour - £15,023 actual

This post supports the work of Kent’s Specialist Teaching team for hearing impairment and is based with the Specialist Teaching and Learning Services at Meadowfield School, Sittingbourne.

The Sensory Service welcomes applications from Business Support Officers with good ICT and office skills to directly support the Coordinators for Hearing Impairment.  The post will also include some administration support to the county sensory impairment team.  The post will include some travel.

The Sensory Service is a countywide service operating within all 12 districts in Kent and is managed through Valence School.  The service is committed to providing high quality teaching and learning support for children and young people with sensory impairment.  The Sensory Service works with children from birth or diagnosis providing services in the home, early years settings, mainstream schools/academies, special schools and FE colleges.

Information about the school

The STLS Sensory Service is comprised of teachers with the Mandatory Qualification for sensory impairment and other sensory support professionals. They provide services in homes, preschools and schools across Kent and operate from 14 different venues.

The STLS Sensory Service supports children and young people with: * Hearing impairment * Visual impairment * Deafblindness (Multi-Sensory Impairment)

What does the STLS Sensory Service provide?

For children and young people with a sensory impairment: * We support young children’s development, communication and exploration through specialist sessions with preschool children and their families in the home. * We build the confidence and capacity of educational settings, schools and colleges to meet sensory needs through information sharing, signposting and training. * We work to support access to the learning environment, curriculum, communication and information through direct work in preschools and schools including the provision of specialist teaching and equipment. * We promote independence, resilience and well-being through close liaison with children and young people, their families, health professionals and the commissioning of support for mobility training and specialist activities
