We are seeking to appoint a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join our wonderful team and to provide additional support for a child in our mixed  Reception/Year 1 class. This post is likely to require aspects of personal care and hygiene. The contract is supported by High Needs funding which is reviewed annually.

You will be part of a forward-thinking team who put children's learning and well-being at the heart of everything they do.  In our 'Good' January 2020 Ofsted report, the HMI reported "All of the staff are proud to work at the school. They are highly positive about leaders’ concern for their workload and well-being. This is a happy and welcoming school...Staff have caring relationships with pupils and know their families well. Pupils respond positively to leaders’ high expectations. Pupils want to do well, and they learn to persevere and not give up. They thrive within this trusting and harmonious environment."  Our 'Outstanding' June 2017 SIAMS inspection report, also celebrated the excellent behaviour and respectful relationships in and around the school.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience of working with pupils with SEN and delivering interventions, or is willing to train.
  • Has a strong belief in inclusion, diversity and the right of each child to be successful whatever their needs, abilities and background.
  • Is able to work well as a team member whilst using their initiative and working independently when required.
  • Is flexible, hardworking and highly reliable with excellent communication skills.
  • Is determined to provide the very best outcomes for the children they work with.
  • Uses their good sense of humour to maintain positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and parents
  • Have a good understanding of numeracy, literacy and ICT.
  • Preferably have GCSE English and Maths grade C or equivalent. 
  • Preferably have a Teaching Assistant Qualification (NVQ level 2 as a minimum), or equivalent.

Further Advantage would be:

  • Experience of working in a nursery of Early Years environment.
  • Experience in teaching/supporting children in their phonics learning.

Wittersham school is situated mid-way between Tenterden and Rye, set in an area of outstanding natural beauty and close to the church. We serve a range of rural areas and many families choose to travel in order to secure a place in our wonderful school.
