We are looking for a Teaching Assistant to act as a personal assistant for a bright, able delightful young girl, currently in Year 2 who is confined to a wheelchair due to a disability. She is excelling in her learning but needs someone to be alongside her in the classroom in a personal support and advocacy role.  

We are looking for someone friendly, caring and open with great communication skills who works well as part of a term. They must be someone with a commitment to work with and improve the lives of disabled children, empowering them to do their best and reach their potential. This person must be a non smoker.  

Job/Person Specification - 35 hours per week

Job title: Personal Assistant 

Outline of role: To provide support and assistance to a child, to enable her to achieve maximum personal benefit from their everyday life at school. 

Responsible to: Inclusion Manager 

Tasks: Personal tasks 

Assist with all transfers using the hoists and slings available 

Assist with dressing 

Assist with accessing all activities 

Assist using the toilet or changing pads 

Perform airway clearance as needed 

Assist to complete all therapies (Respiratory, Physio, OT, SALT) 

Assist with feeding 

Administering medicines 

Assist with positioning to aid comfort/preserve good posture 

Apply/remove orthotics 

Assist with access needs 

Assist to get other's attention when needed 

Assisting in order to participate in various social activities, such as going to clubs, swimming , sporting activities, accessing friends, trips etc. 

Personal Specification

Relevant Qualifications 

  • Experience desirable but training will be provided
