Goldwyn School is seeking to appoint a dynamic and highly motivated professional to lead the day-to-day operations, pastoral care and safeguarding at our Great Chart site in Ashford.  

The Centre Manager will need to apply a flexible and solution focused approach when working with students with complex SEMH and ASD needs, as well as modeling an appropriately boundaried behaviour management style to ensure an atmosphere of mutual respect and tolerance is maintained.

The post-holder will be responsible for ‘running’ the school day; leading the staff team, in ensuring all students are accessing the curriculum and interventions provided. 

The Centre Manger will be expected to maintain an awareness of pupil engagement throughout the school day.  In dealing with situations as they arise they will need to have an experienced and flexible approach to pre-empting and resolving issues as they arise, working with staff to facilitate a safe, happy and purposeful setting.

The post-holder would be directly line managed by the Vice-Principal (Strategic Head of Goldwyn Ashford)

Person Specification.

  • Outstanding qualified teacher with relevant experience.
  • Proven skill and experience of management of SEMH & ASD student behaviour.
  • A commitment to enabling team working within the site, across the school and with associated professionals.
  • Experience of managing teams of people.
  • Can demonstrate personal resilience and sensitivity in times of challenge and when under pressure.
  • Secure understanding and experience of safeguarding, working with students, parents and agencies.
  • Proven understanding of SEN and differentiation within the classroom.
  • Demonstrable ability to meet deadlines and work to a professional standard.
  • Ability to work under pressure, maintaining calm a professional response.
  • Proven ability to maintain own accurate and professional records.
  • Ability to work flexibly, demonstrating a solution focused response, whilst maintaining the aims and ethos of the school.

Goldwyn is an outstanding and unique secondary (11-18) SEMH special school in Kent, operating over 4 sites in Ashford and Folkestone, with each site running its own distinctive educational pathway.
